Morning Thoughts - 8/3/2020

It's a little late in the morning at this point...but I'm gonna charge on! So far my morning has consisted of laundry, coffee, baby, coffee, starting work, coffee, cleaning, and now I'm running out of coffee.

I haven't been quite so productive in awhile and I'm pretty sure it's so I can put off thinking about what this coming school year will look like! Our school district is in a hot spot city so we are starting three weeks late AAAAAAAND strictly online for the first quarter. I'm not so concerned about my oldest. He's super smart and loves learning new things. He had a little taste of online school at the end of last year. He will miss his friends but will adapt quickly.

My middle boy, however, is due to start Pre-k this year. How, oh how do we do Pre-K online? Hahaha! I'm lucky to have been working from home even before Covid hit the world hard, so I don't have to worry about them being home. But there hasn't been any info on how the school system is going to handle Pre-k. I'm in the dark and wondering if I have to homeschool him AND work AND worry about my jewelry business.

I'm slowly working them into a school day routine. I've been buying some of those Target Dollar Spot school items in preparation for my my possible endeavor. We been implementing an earning system for screen time. It works most of the time. When it doesn't it's my own doing. Some days I'm completely wiped out with all the screaming and fighting and constant calls of "Maaaaahhhhhhhm" that it's hard to be consistant.

For now, this is where I am though. Working, inconsistent sleep, trying to come up with and education plan whilst not being a teacher, constant anxiety, and making second pots of coffee daily.

Afternoon Thoughts - June 18 2020

After a couple years at least, I am sitting down to work to update my website. There is a page on here that is advertising Mother's Day presents for May 14. I just googled what year that was.

2017.

My two older boys are in the kitchen arguing about if the walls will break. I'll leave them to it.

There is no quiet. Only noise. Sometimes I just curl into a ball in the closet. This is partly why orders have been taking so long to go out. I'm spending too much time in the closet. Or the bathroom. I can lock the bathroom door.

I try to remember that someday they won't want to constantly follow me around talking non stop. And that I should treasure these times. But with the virus, everything is closed. No playgrounds, zoos, schools, swimming pools to burn off their energy. I'm taking the full brunt of their energy all day, every day and have no outlet.

Yes. Things are opening back up. I'm not in a rush to go back to normal though. Mostly because of the people who don't take it seriously. They're the ones I fear.

I'm lucky to be able to do my day job from home. Even though it is pure chaos. I get overwhelmed though and, again, end up sitting in the closet or bathroom. Letting the laundry pile up. Letting the dishes pile up. Letting the jewelry work pile up.

2017? That was also a weird year for me.

Not covid-19 weird, but still a roller coaster.

But that's a long story. I should edit that Mother's Day page...

This Website Thing.

I've encountered many setbacks in my small business. I would say about 90% of those setbacks are simply because of horrible time management on my part. I could sit there and blame it on my kids but I've always been bad at keeping on a schedule. Mind you, they've definitely made it worse, hahaha!

What is my point? Well...I'm 85% just trying to fill a space on the front page of my website. It's taken me close to a year and I'm still not near being done. 5% admitting I have a problem with deadlines and keeping my brain on track. Math...math. And 10% asking for tips and tricks that you use to solve your time management problems! Advice from busy moms will be given extra points, but all are welcome!

So. This website thing.

It will be done soon. Uh, right. Right!
